Engine is on stand, oil priming not coming thru push rods.
Engine is on stand, oil priming not coming thru push rods.
I got the engine on the stand and I'm priming the oil pump before putting on the intake. I hooked up a gauge and I'm getting 50psi. I'm not getting any oil coming thru the push rods. I have roller lifters and rockers. I thought that I should see oil coming thru the push rods?
I'm using a drill and have rotated the engine a couple of times while priming.
Any ideas before I button up the motor?

Re: Engine is on stand, oil priming not coming thru push rods.
what kind of priming tool are you using? If your using the tool that is just a skinny shaft that connects from a drill to the pump, then you will not get oil through the push rods. I use a old distributor that I shaved the teeth off of on the gear as if you look your Oil drive assy, You will notice 2 collars on it with a space in the middle. THat is what directs the oil to the camshaft and lifters.

So, it's the coller that pushes the oil to the rods. Ok, that makes me feel better. I was using the long shaft attached to the drill.
Thanks.
Thanks.
