Engine refresh versus rebuild
Engine refresh versus rebuild
I currently own a 95 z28 that has around 114,000 miles. I'm on a really tight budget, but I'm thinking about completing an engine refresh or rebuild.
My main emphasis would be on building a reliable daily driver and possibly try to squeeze a few more ponies out of the car while the engine is out.
I was thinking of buying a set of afr heads to bolt in rather than port the stock lt-1's, reusing the stock rods and crank, and possibly running KB pistons. My expectations for performance are not high, and I believe a stroker is out of the question.
What do you think would be the most bang for the buck short of a stroker or forced induction? I just want the car to last.
I don't know much about camshaft and head selection, although I've searched through the board quite a bit. My main emphasis would be an increase in torque--both midrange and low.
