Unhappy Engine Noise (Need Help)

I'm getting a metal scraping noise coming from the driver's side of the engine bay. It is very pronounced at idle but seems to fade away when driving. It just started this morning. Does anyone know what it could be and how much it cost to fix?

Check your exhaust. If it's more of a crunching noise an exhaust can produce such a sound.

I experienced this with my Z28 once and took the car to a local exhaust shop. They touched it up, replaced the flange gaskets, etc. and the crunchy noise went away.

My car is a 6-speed and the crunching noise always occured when putting it into gear from idle or at low speeds. Went away after the exhaust fixes.
