Engine locked up. but not siezed. help?

Engine locked up. but not siezed. help?

My engine shut down a few weeks ago. and wouldnt start again.
i got it home andi can turn the crank a few degrees but not much.
my father said its just locked up some how.
any ideas as to what would cause that?
where should i start in dismantling the engine?

First thing to do is pull the spark plugs and determine if there is water in the cylinders by turning it over.
Start there.

I can only turn it about 1/8 of a turn or so. not enough to see much
and i took the stater off. but when it was on it wouldnt do anything. it couldnt turn the engine

Sounds like a broken connecting rod.

That would make it not turn very much?
and ehrn the engine died it sounded like i just turned the engine off. no noise or anything. it just died.

M6 or auto? Make sure its in neutral if it's m6.
