Engine Light On???
Engine Light On???
Well that stupid *** engine comes on when i drive for a while or stay at a drive through waiting for my food. Anyways, it only goes on once in a while though. You think its just a dummy light? Also, i have that stupid coolant light on that has never gone off. In other words my Z looks like an arcade at night with all those lights on-lol. The temperature also to about the 3/4 line is this causing the engine light to go on? I checked the coolant and it is full in both the radiator and the reserve tank. Sorry for so much crap, any help would be greatly appreciated!
The only way to be sure what is tripping the SES light is to get it scanned.
The coolant light is a typical problem with these cars. Most likely the sensor that is in the radiator, just below the fill neck, has gone bad. Some people have had luck cleaning it but many times it has to be replaced.

Yeah that diagnostic test is expensive, i was thinking of just disconnecting the sensor could you locate it for me? Thats probably a dumb question but i am just learning these engines.
Disconnect the coolant sensor, its right next to the battery about 3 inches below the radiator cap, you can replace the sensor later, but I never did. Go to Autozone to get your SES light scanned, they do it for free. Don't pay Chevy $60 to do what Autozone will do for free.

What year car is it? A '93 can be read with a fused jumper or even a paperclip. Maybe you can find another person in your area to scan it for you. There are MFBA members in your area. If it's a '94-'95 and you're in the area or vice versa I'll scan it for you
