Engine hydrolocked again
Engine hydrolocked again
So about 6 months ago my engine hydrolocked because of a stuck fuel injector. The cranking of the starter cracked the housing, so I replaced the starter and the stuck injector. This past week the engine hydrolocked again without noticeable symptoms of stumbling/black smoke, and I ended up breaking another starter! A different injector failed. Yes, I know I should have replaced all 8 back then, but I was frustrated, and the shop I went to had to use dealer OEM parts at $177/injector, so I replaced just the one that failed. In any case, I ordered a set of new FMS 24lb. injectors. My question is, what could be causing the failure? The car is well-maintained with only 60,000 miles on it. Could this be a sign of something else that's wrong, or are the injectors the real problem?

Re: Engine hydrolocked again
If you have had not one but TWO injectors get stuck open, then I would think you need to go through the entire fuel system and make damn sure it's not cruddy. Check the tank inside, check the lines, replace the filter, blow the fuel lines out if necessary with shop air, clean out the regulator, and make sure nothings in the fuel log on the manifold. Thats a VERY rare problem indeed, and I would think it would be related to junk in the injectors. Make sure you don't get trash in the new ones

Advice that will help you greatly in the future!! Buy parts on here before buying at the dealer! Or atleast from Dal Slabaugh. Save you a ton of money. I think I sold all 8 of my stock injectors for like $30.
