The reason no coolant is coming out is because you didnt leave them open long enough. Do one at a time, and leave it open until you start to get some bubbles, and then it will be only coolant...then tighten it back up. Its gonna be air at first because there is a bunch of air in the system and the air escapes before the coolant does...This is because the bleeder valve is on the TOP of the hose, and air will be at the top of the hose while the coolant is at the bottom. Open it up and leave it open until you get coolant...it may take a min, but it will happen...if not, then there is no coolant in your lines.

Re: Engine coolant light...dumb as dirt!

Ok, this is where I am at so far. What was in the radiator was below the sensor level so I opened the bleed screws and filled the radiator up to about 2 inches from very tip top. Closed bleed screws and left top of radiator and was going to start the car up and let it run for a few mins. When I start the car up, the antifreeze starts to bubble up and come out of the radiator. What now? Is this normal? Like I said I filled it up probably 2-3 inches to the top. One thing though, my Coolant Light didnt come on when I started it up. 95BlackTA, didnt see your post till I had already did all this.

Ok, heres what you are doing wrong... the car needs to be running when you are bleeding the system. So, with the car off, check the level in the radiator. Once it is full, put the cap back on, then start the car. Once you start the car, open the bleeding screw and let the coolant bleed out for a few seconds. It should be a constant stream, just make sure there is no more air in it. When air comes out, obviously it won't be a constant stream. Then tighten the bleed screws back down, and you should be ready to go. Make sure you are using the right bleed screw, there are two of them. The one you want to open it the one that is the highest away from the ground. Hope this helps good luck

The sensor is right below the radiator cap. You prob filled it past the sensors point so the light goes off. Fill it a little more. Turn the car on and leave the cap off. Dont worry it should not rush out. Look for a stream of coolant that comes out right under the cap. If you see that stream everything should be fine. If the level keeps going down add more until it stops going down. If there is no stream and it is filled there may be a problem with your water pump. Good luck

Well crap!!! Did what you guys said, drove car up the road. Temp gauge was ltl above 160, running normal. No warning lights came on and everything seemed to be fixed. But than heard some hissing again. When got home , opened the hood and steam was coming as if something was leaking. Looked underneath the car and water( I assume) was pouring out of the car right at the very bottom pulley. Follow the throttle body straight down and at that pulley was where water was gushing out. What you think now, water pump?

Water pumps are like 50 bucks but teadious to do. Jack the car up and turn it on. Look under the car to see where it is coming from. It may be a simple 20 dollar hose.

I had exactly what you had happen a long time ago. One thing i would Really really really recommend you replace the opti a the same time as there is a posibillity it could go bad. If you can afford to that is, its not exactly a cheap and fun thing to do :/
At the very least if your going to chance it and hope water didnt fry your opti, i would then keep an eye on the cars performance very carefully (at light throttle and WOT).
I'm about to replace my opti now a few years after the original waterpump went on my car. Since the water pump (although i never really corellated the two) i believe my car's never run well at around 2000 rpm(was fluttering lightly). I've spent the last 3 years trying to troubleshoot what went bad to no avail, until last week my otpi finally decided to take a complete dump on me. The same type of fluttering got worse and happend in a wider RPM range and in a matter of a few days the car was barely drivable.
I'm wishing I had just replaced the opti back when my pump died would have saved me money and time replacing and trying to troubleshoot this.

OK, don't get too excited just yet. It could be a hose. After rebuilding my motor and putting it back in I reused my heater hoses. After two weeks of everything going well, the hose started GUSHING coolant all over the place like you are seeing. I crawled under and could see it when it was running. All I had to do was reposition the clamp (for now). The heater hose is the smaller hose on the passenger side of the pump. It is towards the bottom of the pump and sprayed my bottom pulley. Two suggestions, get some eye protection and look for the leak when the motor is cool and just warming up. As the system pressurizes, the leak will get worse and the leaking coolant gets hotter of course. Use a flashlight and make sure you can get out quickly. If it's the water pump, it will usually leak from the weep hole at the bottom of the housing. The serpentine belt will fling coolant everywhere making it more difficult to trace the problem.
