engine build up
want to take down this lt1 and make enough hp to make all this work worth while, but not talking a million bucks spent. thinkin 383. i know its
.030" over but is it the same as an older 350s where room has to be grounded off for the bigger stroke of the crank? do i buy a set of 4-bolt mains for the lt1 or do they have to b oversized? im looking on tpiparts.net and see their caps. the eagle crank and rods will work, but pistons? and im almost set on gm perf lt4 aluminum heads. comp lifeters and rockers. basically im just looking for what has worked in the past and keeping it under the price of these crate lt1 modders ive seen but still getting substantial power anything helps thanks

Competition Products is here in WI and has some nice parts on parts. You might even consider talking to them about building the engine. They offer billet maincaps but really 2 bolts will be fine for most builds.
Eagle is pretty lowend stuff, not that it fails, just a lot of dimensional issues. Scat is better.
Do not bother looking at the LT4 heads, you are better off to get the LT1 heads ported by advancedinduction.com
When you get it done maybe we will run into eachother at WIR or GLD.

yeah hopefully we will cool. so then your sayin a set of trick flows or anything for an lt1 and port/polish or just redo the stockers? cuz my idea was (rough) edelbrocks lt4 performer air gap intake and rpm perf heads just solely on the matchability but not worth it?
You can p&p the the stock heads, TB, and intake manifold. No need to go after market with those for most builds. Get an off the shelf cam or get a custom grind. Along with supporting mods (intake, exhaust, etc) you will be making good power.
Lloyd Elliot Portworks (http://www.eportworks.com/lt1.html) is another option along with the aforementioned Advanced Induction.

I would specifically discourage you from buying aftermarket heads or intake and again say www.advancedinduction.com long term reliable results.
and you dont need a 4 bolt block, unless you want one.id say for a buget build, just go with the stock main caps. the 4 bolt conversion is like $500,plus the caps.if you do get caps, get them new splayed ones from ebay, same partexept there $40.its just stronger, thats all but either 2 0r 4 bolt will work for you.also eagle imprts there cranks from the same people who sell to the ebay guys, i know youll have people swearing up and down that eagle is better but the truth is there is only one company in china cutting forged chevy cranks, and they sell to eagle, ebay people and a few others so buy off ebay and save some money.the esp rods are made in china as well, eagle sells them for $500,ebay for $275.same part.i bought both just to see.the only risk is if somthing is wrong and you have to return it, the ebay store might be a pain in the ****,but i think its well worth the risk.id recomend a stock stroke, its just alot easier to put together without having to grind away ayt the block, not the easiest thing to do for a first time engine builder.good luck.
so when all this would be finished, do i put a new stock opti on with the stroker and heads n cam and such or should i go msd? i have read past posts about their troubles with o-rings n all but is it a better or more ...[I]powerful???[I] disributor
I think you need to slow down. You are looking at too many things based on name and bad assumptions not taking the time to understand things and look for true results.
Maybe come spring a few trips to the track and seeing a 350 done right in a whale of a car compared to the way things are popularly done will open your eyes some. Not saying a stroker is a bad thing just that they are frequently badly done. Popularity is NOT a guarntee of quality it is proof of good marketing, in no way are those the same thing.
