Question Engine Block ID

Last night, I bought a 94 Z28 with a 396 stroker motor in it. The guy I bought it from said that the motor in it was a 4-bolt from a Corvette and not the stock LT-1 motor that was in the car originally. Is there an easy way to determine what type of block it is easily. I was told that the engine ID plate is fairly difficult to get to.

Thanks

Here's a picture of Shoebox's VIN derivative on the block. If you can get those numbers, we'll be able to tell what it was out of.

Hum, doesn't look too easy to reach, but thanks for the info.
