Engine
Engine
Hello, i dont know allot about engines and was woundering if someone could answer a few questions for me. My headgasket went in my car a 2 weeks a go and i towed it to a local garage and theyve had it for a while now. They finally got the heads off and they told me they needed to be machined. Getting to the point, all they have to do is put new plugs in and put everything back together. They are telling me that they cant promise me that they will be able to get it done in a full day.Just putting everything back together will take a full day, and if they run into any snags or problems they may not get it done. I think this garage is trying to rip me off?
its defiantly not more than a one day project. If they have a bunch of other cars in for repair, then maybe your car isnt high on their priority list.
If they need to machine the heads, get the gaskets, etc, then yes... It would take a whole day.
I wouldnt drive my car for 24hrs after the intake was set anyhow.

Like Silvershark said, depending on the rtv used, it's a good idea to let it set for 24 hours. Since your already commited to this shop, just let them do their job. No sense harassing them, that will only **** them off, and you will only have to wait longer to get your car back. Did you get a qoute before they started working on it?
They took two weeks to swap motors in my car. They had a bottom end and an entire motor. Just had to swap them.
2 weeks, 1 day I waited.
I was NOT a happy camper.
Only cost me 1250 for them to do the work tho.

well if its anything like my shop, there are usually 3-5 other cars waiting before you
