Emissions legal cams

Would a cam with a 112 lsa be emissions legal. I was thinking about getting the cc305 ground with a 112 lsa. What other cams make good power that are emissions legal still. Also I dont want to rev the engine to 6700. I really want good power but have to comply to emissions. Also if anyone thinks of a cam that would barely pass what needs to be done to pass. Any help would greatly be apperciated

Thanks,
Charlie

Whats your definition of emsions legal, technicaly no after market cam can be used in any polution controlled vehicle, no matter the size. What your really after is, will it pass smog not comply with emsions.

Althought each state/country will vary on it's strictness on emmissions tunning your car for that very reason could probably get you thru emmissions with no problem.

Nothing a good hour or two on LT1 edit won't cure.

as the lsa number gets lower the vavle overlap gets larger and the idle will get rougher depending on the size of the lobes. the other side affect which will mean more to your emmissions testing is that as the lsa gets lower the hydrocarbon count goes up. thats why the lt1 cam is on a 116/117 lsa. if you're staying stock heads... you dont need a bigger cam than the hotcam.... i've said it before and i guess i will again the small crane and zz3 or zz4 will eat the hot cam alive on a stock headed car with 1.6 rr's. the trend lately is for the guys with stock heads and a small cam to eat the guys with a bigger cam alive on the drag strip. the highway might be a different story, and peak numbers do give braging rights but its avg power that counts not peak. thats why you see some of the dyno queens on here run **** numbers at the track. also the 224/230 is probably going to be the top performer on stock heads if you MUST go with a bigger cam. however i dont know about it passing emissions

its not about BIG with cams its about OPTIMIZING what you have

Coulden't agree more, pay attension to those lift numbers stock heads don't flow very much and like we already touched earlier on to much lift will hurt you on a stock head setup.
