Emissions, and engine code problems! Odd.... 1996 Z28
Ok so for the last little bit I've been getting a crankshaft position sensor code being thrown. My local mechanic says they tested the actual sensor and it is fine (not sure how they do that), and is hinted that the actual car computer could be funky.
When you reset the computer by pulling the fuse, or taking out the battery the code goes away, and the engine light will turn off. Even if you drive it a really long time (50+ miles) the light stays off. It is not until you turn the car off and restart it does it turn back on, and that usually takes a couple of minutes. I need to pass emissions and obviously with the light on, it will not. Does anyone have a good suggestion to the solution of my problem?

What codes are being set right now?
If it's still the crank position sensor....I think I'd change the sensor for the heck of it. I'm not sure how they tested the sensor, but if there is latency in the switching of the sensor....it could cause you grief. Would also not hurt to test the wiring as well.
