Electrical Drain Help Needed

Well, time to get the battery drain issue on the purple car sorted out. Except I'm STUMPED by it.

Everything connected, multimeter in-line between battery and negative cable, I get a draw of 0.68 mA.

The ONLY time I was getting a change in the draw was the following:

Disconnect the battery positive cable from the distribution block (the red thingy behind the battery that the cap is always broken off of) and the battery positive wire from the alternator, draw goes to 0.00 mA.

Or:

Disconnect the battery positive cable from the distribution block AND the terminal on the distribution with JUST the two black wires connected to it, draw goes down to 0.02 mA. If I touched the battery positive cable to the alternator, the draw jumps back up to 0.68 mA.

ANY ideas?

That's strange, my car used to have the same problem. If i didn't run it for more than a couple weeks the battery would completely drain, never figured it out.

Yeah, it's on the purple pearl 93, but my black 93 is comatose and has been for a long time, but every time I try to start that one it's good to go.

I am having similar problems.
My voltmeter died so I havent been able to check things though. Also when it does run after getting jumped off, it has a strange shutter. I hope its not the opti.
Werid.

Re: Electrical Drain Help Needed

More update:

With the "Two Grey Wire terminal" disconnected from the battery distribution block AND the battery to alternator cable disconnect, draw is a normal 0.02 mA.

With the TWO grey wire terminal connected to the distribution block and the battery to alternator cable disconnected, draw is .68 mA.

With the two grey wire terminal disconnected and the battery to alternator wire connected, draw is .68 mA.

With both connected, draw is .68 mA.

Other than that, nothing is affecting the draw on the system. I went so far as to pull EVERY fuse and relay under the hood and in the dash, with no difference.

Anyone have ANY ideas (pertinant at least)?

Re: Electrical Drain Help Needed

A alternator will draw when the engine is off,but it shouldn't be enough to kill the bat inside of 3 months.Sounds like ya got a regulator problem. Ckeck with one of your local rebuild shops and see if they will pop with some info as to how much.
