Electric WP users...
I had a wierd problem today....
Stopped and got gas and pull out of gas station..sitting at red light I notice the temp gauge is running hotter than usual(I check my gauges atleast 1-2 per minute) It keeps getting hotter and hotter until it almost hits the red, so I go ahead an pull off and start looking over things...let it cool off and drive 1 min to friends house and it is still running hot..Meziers WP seems to be working but every now and then it makes wierd noises..To my understand when an electric fails...its dead. Well, I let the car sit about 2hrs and refill the coolant level and drive it home with absolutley no problems and the temp stayed at 170 the whole way(45mins)
If your electric WP has failed did it fail right then and there or did it slowly die? My Meziers is going on 4yrs old
I'm thinking my thermostat is the culprit..
What are your opinions...

Re: Electric WP users...
I don't think its your water pump or your thermostat, if your thermostat didn't open it would run hot all the time, same deal with your water pump.
Things that it could possibly be.
Check to see if your fans are coming on
Or you have a small leak in your cooling system.
A small leak will cause you to lose enough coolant to cause air pockets which will result in a hot running car. However when you are moving you've usually got enough coolant flow that the car won't run hot with the air pockets, the same is true for the fans not turning on. If you are on the highway or are moving above 35 MPH you won't generally overheat due to the wind.
