Electric WP
Electric WP
Anyone recommend Electric water pumps on a daily driver? I have heard pros and cons about it. I've heard horror stories about them leaking, or failing, but also, that guy had a lot of problems in general with his car. I've also heard they dyno another 8 rwhp. What changes need to be made to install an EWP? I'd like to hear what you guys have to say about this. Thanks.
I have the Meziere pump and haven't had any problems, it works great. The fan shroud had to be trimmed back a little so it wouldn't hit. They have an average mean time before failure which I forget the time but estimated it to be 2 years of normal use. You can then order a motor kit from Meziere to fix it. My machine shop removed the gear to drive the stock pump and blocked the hole in the timing cover.
I'm daily driving the Meziere pump. Had to trim some of the fan shroud but it really wasn't a big deal. The only advice I can give is to ditch the inline fuse that Meziere supplies, get a blade type fuseholder and solder or crimp it on. I had some problems with the supplied fuseholder not making a good connection sometimes. It actually caused a blown headgasket.
Been running a CSI for about eight months now. Haven't had any problems with it. I got mine just so I could bypass that damn waterpump seal. Gaining more HP was just a plus
My car definately runs way cooler just crusing around, but if im racing again and again and again then yea the temps do start to come up because the electric wp's dont flow as good as the mechanical ones do in the upper rpm's.
all said and done I won't be getting rid of my electric wp anytime soon
