Electric waterpumps

Getting my cam and all accessories this weekend. Last thing I need to know is whether or not I should go to an electric waterpump or stay with the one I have. If so then I will get a CM timing chain also.

Car is not a daily driver. Driven on weekends for the most part and some nights after work. Approximately 3k-6k per summer and nothing in the winter. I know the pump has a 2,500 hour life expectancy. How many miles approximately does that translate too. I don't want to be replacing them every year.

well, if you average 30 MPH, 2500 hours = 75,000 miles...at 60 MPH, 150,000 miles. So yeah, should last more than a year

The number of hours life expectancy has more to do with the number of engine hours or time that it's running.
Let's say you drove your car for a total of 3 hrs per day 7 days a week we have 3x7=21 hrs per week x 52 weeks a year = 1092 hrs per year so the pump would last approx 2.5 years and remember that's assuming you actually drive 3 hrs per day.

I don't (wouldn't) trust something that crucial to engine longevity to anything electrical.

they should really make one that can operate at different gph so it'll last longer... lower temperature doesnt necessarily require the same rate of flow...
