Electric waterpump cooling capacity vs stock

I think my opti is shot, so I'm going to replace the waterpump too. I'm going to road race my car a few times a year and was wondering if an electric waterpump would be able to handle the extra load, or would I be better off getting another stock pump? And my car is also a daily driver that I drive 6-10K a year too...

I run the Meziere pump. the thing I like is it pumps the same amount of water at idle as it does at WOT. The stock pump flows more as the rpms raise. But still at WOT if flows less the the Meziere. Hope this helps!

Are you sure that even at 6K the mezier pump flows more than the stock mechanical pump?

Re: Electric waterpump cooling capacity vs stock

1. The stock pump is rated to flow 25 gallons per minute at 6000rpm. This means at lower rpm's, it flows much less (especially at idle which is tough on a car in the desert). The Meziere pump flows 35 gallons per minute ALL THE TIME!
I found that on ws6.com. My question is thoug, the meziere pump is rated at free flowing, will it still flow more than the stock pump with the restriction of the coolant system and the factory housing?

I cant awnser that question, but I can tell you, everyone with a Electric wp needs to buy a watch dog warning light. this light will go off if the coolant reaches whatever temp you set it at. I had a fuse blow to my E.w.p. and it cost me $500.00 to fix my warped heads
P.s. go with CSI same thing, cheaper, easier to modify the stock housing!!$135.00 at thunderacing.com

Re: Electric waterpump cooling capacity vs stock

The meziere is rated at 43 GPM, the stocker maxes out at 25 GPM, the CSI is rated at 30-37 GPM, and the HD Meziere is rated at 55GPM. Yes it will handle the load, yes its better than stock. And for all the Nay-Sayer's out there...if you are so worried about the pump failing, then spend the $80 or whatever to get the kit this moniters the water pump so if it fails you can pull over and save your heads from warping. Duh, even with the additional cost the EWP swap is a great value, better cooling, about 9RWHP, and it lasts better than the junk stock pumps.

I have only seen the CSR that cheap in GP's. I think the best price I found was at Buyenspeed racing in the supporting vendors. They have free shipping as well.

Re: Electric waterpump cooling capacity vs stock

where do u get the kit to moniter it? it seems to me like if you watch your temp guage, you'll be fine. if it starts to go up increasingly, shut it off.??
