Electric Water Pump... Question...

I Am ready for install, But I was wondering about the little drive comming out of the timing cover. Should i take this little bugger out and try to cap it off? I don't thin I would need this WP Drive anylonger would I?

You can take it off and remove it but thats a lot of extra work unless you're going to remove the timing cover for something else.

also you might want to run a led to somewhere in the cab so you know the water pump is getting power and running. if the light goes off kill the car!

yea and in a hurry... not something that would keep me from doing it though. You just have to be a little watchful, and have the proper safety equipment

I left the stub sticking out of the timing cover until later, when I built the 383...then I removed it, and did away it and the stock type timing set. You have a lot more choices in timing sets when you remove the shaft completely. As long as you aren't doing at least a cam swap, might as well leave it in for now.

I Had Mine Welded When It Was Off The Engine. I Had To Have The Waterpump Welded Also As The Plug That Was Included Did Not Fit The Hole.

Was your pump a Meziere? Mine fit fine. On the hole in the timing cover, I found a freeze plug that was close (a little oversize), did some grinding on the edge, and tapped it in with some silicone to prevent leaks.

Yes Meziere. I figure i won't need the little drive... If I can get to it I will. I may be swapping out the timing chain considering I'm doing a rebuild. Thanks!

A 1 1/8 "deep" freeze plug fits the wp housing perfectly - a bead of silicone and something to tap it in flush, and you're set.

One of the benefits of an EWP is now you can use double roller timing sets vice the expensive LTX timing set.

True, but you will have to clearance the timing cover in most cases.
