Electric water pump install

I cant find a thread telling me about the cover gasket. Mine is in really bad shape. The one "how to" I read said to pitch it you dont need it. Do I just use silicone sealer. Thanks. Also it said use 14ga wire. That seems awful thin. Thanks

The pump should come with an o-ring gasket but you can add some RTV for extra insurance. I used 12ga. wire.

Re: Electric water pump install

You don't need rtv with an o'ring. And to the original question... I wouldn't trust rtv all by its lonesome. You can buy o'ring stock by the foot. Look around locally... if no joy, check McMaster Carr.
