Electric Cutout - Which one/Where from?

What's a good electric cutout? How much should I expect to spend? Who sells em the cheapest? Where should I have it mounted?

Try a Flowtech cutout with a McCord Power Plate. The PowerPlate will work with most typical 3" cutouts.

The cutout itself is around $30, and the power plate is about $110 or so. Expect roughly $30 to have it welded in.

I have mine located on the intermediate pipe just before it dumps over the rear axle.

QTEC and dont let anyone tell you otherwise, do a search on McCord and read how they break all the time.

I have a dual McCord setup sitting around collecting dust. I'm getting nervous about installing the darn thing now. I thought that they revised the darn thing so that they didn't fail. Probably best to just get a QTEC, the concensus is that they're not as prone to failure.

I wouldn't spend a penny on a McCord. Get a QTEC for $25 more....it's alot better. www.quicktimeperformance.com/qtec.htm

I've had mine since June and it works absolutely fine. I got it with a 3" Flowtech cutout for $169.99 from www.ls1speed.com , and I'm very happy with it.

Do you notice a good amount of torque lost when the cutout is open? I ran my hooker catback without a muffler and it felt like I was driving a Civic.

yeah there's a definite loss in low end torque, but it screams on the top end.

Does it sound weird to run the plate half open? Do you still notice a loss in torque?

ok im gonna shout this one out so i can save someone else the anger i and many others have gone thru...

DO NOT BUY A MCCORD POWEPLATE They are JUNK and WILL FAIL on you. Probably within the first 2 months and when they do DO NOT expect Keith McCord to help you out cause HE DOES NOT stand behind the pile of crap that he sells

i wish like hell i would have gotten the QTEC cutout so i could still be rollin with an electric cutout!

just a heads up

Another downvote for the McCRAP. Mine stopped working a while ago and just this past week I noticed it had been dragging on the ground. Pretty neat huh. Took it out and just put the regular plate in. Next time will be a QTEC
