Elec. Waterpump Question

I just got a Mezeire Electric Waterpump. I stuck 12v on it to see how it works and i swear that thing is not moving fast at all. Doesnt seem like it would move the coolant fast enough through the system. How fast do these things move? Any ideas?

Re: Elec. Waterpump Question

its not going to sound like a hair dryer or anything. it's a quiet noise and no, it doesn't sound powerful. but believe me, it works. it takes my car longer to get up to temps with this pump

Re: Elec. Waterpump Question

Thats not really my question. I know electric waterpumps flow better then mechanical but i am just wondering if mine is bad. I havent put it on the car yet, i just put 12v to it to see how fast it spun. And it doesnt spin very fast at all.

if its brand new, then its fine. it doesn't sound like much, but it gets the job done. like i said, mine didn't sound like a turbo or anything either when i put 12 volts to it

Re: Elec. Waterpump Question

You know what it might be. My car has been sitting for months, I bet my battery is near dead. Maybe that is the reason it was spinning so slow.

well, if you have a DMM (digi multi meter) then test it to see. give it a charge and try it again.

Re: Elec. Waterpump Question

I installed one on my 3rd gen and I really like it. I thought I read somewhere not to run the pump more than a couple of seconds dry. So read your instructions again so as not to ruin the pump.

I did not run mine at all until I had it installed and the coolant in place. I did not want to take any chances.
