egr valve how to remove it.

egr valve how to remove it.

im trying to remove it so that i can clean it. However its alll the way in the back of the engine compartment of course. Whats the best way to get at it. I can hardley get my hand back there and i dont want to just start pulling on stuff.

It's been a long time since I had mine off. As I recall it is held on by two nuts. Remove them and the EGR valve slides back towards the firewall until clear of the studs. It is hard to see. I recommend getting a flashlight and a mirror to get a good look at things. Once you are ready lay on top of the motor and work by feel. I think there is also a little vaccume line. Just slide it off. When I changed mine I was worried that it would be a pain in the butt. The dealer quoted me like 100$ labor to change it. I decided to do it my self and I'm glad I did. It took like fifteen minutes and if I did it again I bet I could do it in less than five. Really it's not hard at all just a little worrisome since you can't see it. Just jump in and do it, no problem.
