EGR Valve Check - How Hard should it be?

I FINALLY figured out how to push in my EGR valve, you have to place your hand under the bracket and firmly push it in. My question is how hard should you have to push to get it to depress? Mine moved in an out just fine but was fairly hard to move it in. Should it be really that hard to push or does that mean its going bad... or is it only bad if you can't push it in at all or if it doesn't depress back after you've pushed it. HOpe someone knows

It is fairly stiff when you push on it. If you push on it and the car stumbles or stalls, it is probably in good condition. The car should stumble when it is pushed.
