EGR Stuck

My EGR is stuck causing fuel to be dumped HARD into the engine. I'm not getting an SES light from it either. I don't have the money to replace it right now. Would it be a good idea to take it off and get the diaphragm moving again? At least so I won't have a huge load up and backfire?

Are you sure you can't force diaphragm to move while it's still on a car by spraying it with some stuff (brake cleaner or WD-40) and pushing on it?

It was hot when I was going to spray some WD on it..It's cooling down now, then I'll give it a try.

Just remove the EGR valve and spray some carb cleaner in it to clean up all the gunk, that should help.

can you remove the egr valve without taking off the manifold.

How about this one. My EGR is 10 years old, I'd like to put on a new one, but striped the damn nut on the drivers side. Since you only have enough room to put a Q-tip between the bolt and the front of the EGR. I'd thought I cut the "Some of a bit*h" in half with a dremel. I've tried line wrenchs, box wrenchs, trying the next sized down wrench, even vice grips. I can't even fit an inverted torx back there to just take the whole stud out. I figured if I can get it in half, I can get the torx on there. Stupid, yes, but I don't want to have to pull the intake to do this.

I sprayed some WD 40 on the EGR it's moving back and forth now. But for the most part I'm still loading up and backfiring. What could cause this? EGR not holding a vacuum? Perhaps I have another vacuum leak somewhere? If so, what and where would they be?

I've got my EGR valve off my 94 sitting around. Paypal $10 to cover shipping and I'll send it your way. It's not doing me any good sitting around here, works fine.

Ok. But I need to know what other things cause a load up/backfire scenario.

Check your PCV valve, all vacuum line connections (especially to EGR solenoid and fuel pressure regulator - there is scheme on radiator cover sticker). Check your vacuum if possible. Are you sure these are not ignition problems? Plugs/wires are ok? If you have a OBDI - it's not very sensitive to throw any codes due to misfire. Check all sensor's readings with tester.

Opti, Wires, Plugs, all are new.

I went out to take a look around. And I noticed some discoloration on the passenger side of th intake. It's sorta goldish in color. I looked around the other side of the intake. The discoloration is only over there near the 2 injectors.
