EGR going bad?

I could a P0400 code so I know it is the EGR. Question is can I do the EGR block-off mod to stop the code or should I just replace it. It is on a 96 slowmaro z-28. any help please?

I believe that if you block it off, you will still have a code. I want to take off the egr, air, and evap to get rid of some clutter(plus less stuff that can break), but I am also going to have all of the codes deleted so I don't have the ses light. I've also heard that the egr is one of the causes of the annoying intake manifold leak because the pipe that runs behind the intake manifold gets pretty darn hot, and eventually deteriorates the gasket material.

You'll still get the code if you delete the EGR. To save some money you could try cleaning it, just remove the valve and spray some carb cleaner in the valve.
