Question egr disable..block off or just plug intake line??

I think I have a block off plate somewhere from when I had my old 97 ta and never used it and now have another 96 lt1 but
wondering can't you just put plug on line off the intake that controls the egr valve. Why do you have to put a plate under the egr to stop flow if the valve is controlled by vacuum from the intake.???

Because there will be a big *** hole and vaccum leak if you dont block it off and plug up the vaccum line.

I think you misunderstood..just meant leave the egr in place and block the vac line going to it woudn't that stop the egr from opening..why bother with the block off plates if you block off the feed line..??
