Re: EGR block off

keeps hot gases from getting into your intake, keeping the intake a little cleaner and it can only rob power from you. You wont see any significant gains by blocking it off, but its a good thing to ditch if you dont have emissions. LT1's dont like that smog and bog stuff

Yep, cleans things up and makes it easier to work on back there. I put in Hooker LTs so I had to ditch the AIR and EGR. I don,t miss em thats for sure.

Re: EGR block off

Who works on stuff at the back of the manifold? The EGR system has more benefits to leaving it in place, than removing it. It does not rob power and only is operational in part throttle situations. It keeps a check on combustion temperatures to prevent detonation, which does rob power and is bad for your engine.

oil pressure sending unit, fuel pressure regulator, trying to get your damn socket on a bellhousing bolt etc
I really have not seen any negative effects from removing it.
I am sure your right (you are rarely if ever wrong) but I aint putting it back on.

If you ditch it because of a header install, I can understand. Otherwise, I say leave it be.

You know, I know what is back there. But is it really a problem that often ?

Re: EGR block off

Well once I figured my fuel problems out ......no I don,t get my hand back in there too often anymore.
I was just so used to older musclecars and sittin in the engine compartment that I have been on a mission to delete anything thats not absolutely needed to keep the car running and it has worked, I don,t mind stickin my hands in there now.
