Egr?

I need help testing my egr valve (The car is a 1996 lt1). I am having a rough/ running rich problem with some pinging in the high rpms. The car has new everything coil, wires, opti, fuel pump, IAC; but the IAC is from a v6camaro. I am starting to think it is a egr problem, will putting vacuum to the valve let me know if it is good or bad?

Thanks I don't know why I did not check your site first. Also, what will happen if I remove the egr but keep the egr pipe on the passengerside along with the air pump; will the car run fine that way, I know a SES Light will come on.

YOu can keep the pipe, but you must cover the holes where the EGR valve was. The AIR pump has nothing to do with the EGR.
