EEK! Squeeking noise comming from under the valve cover...

Well, exactly what it says. I noticed it when i was driving one day, i thought it was the dash or something. It seems to stop when i hit the brakes or theirs a load on it. Its comming from under the back of the driver side valve cover. The car dosint seem like its lost any power or anything. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem. Thanks in advance for any help.

Mine made a noise like a hamster wheel when one of the rollers on one of the lifters was shot. Sounded like a squeaking noise and was annoying as hell. The power still felt the same but when I changed the lifters the #1 intake lifter wheel was all pitted up. I don't know what caused it and the cam was not damaged so I just installed a new set of lifters.

Mine sounds the same way. Is this something that can cause damage if it isint replaced soon? Or is it just stick a new lifter on and im good to go?

I imagine it could eventually destroy a cam lobe if a lifter is messed up. All depends how bad the lifter is I guess. You're going to have to pull them all to check them out. Shine a light through the lifter bores and spin the engine over and inspect the lobes on your cam. I got away with just replacing the lifters and had no more plroblems. I have a set of stock lifters with about 8,000 miles or so on them if you need a set. I'd let them go pretty cheap if you want them. They are Melling lifters and I never had a problem with them. I upgraded to Comp R's when I installed my hotcam.
