Question Edelbrock Throttle Body

Hi, I'm an owner of the Z28 LT-1 1993 and I'm interested in Edelbrock 58MM throttle body http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...em=2465715705. They say it will fit on the 1994 LT-1, in the advertisment.
Is there any difference between 1993 and 1994 throttle body? Would it fit on mine?

Thanx Marauder

I am pretty sure that the 93 TB is different from the 94 and up. I may be wrong. I hope someone else can chime in.

You're not wrong. Edelbrock lists different part # for 93 LT1 TB's as compared to 94-97 LT1's. Look here:

http://www.edelbrock.com/automotive/...bodies.html#gm

Funny they don't even list them for 93 cars anymore. In my 2002 catalog the part # for a 58mm TB for 93 LT1 is #3808.

I'm surprised that Edelbrock still show TB's for sale on their website, last I heard they were getting away from them and letting BBK do all the manufacturering and selling of them, as least that's what I was told when I bought mine back in 2001 from Summit. I snapped up the last brand new edelbrock 52mm TB for $199 US.

Anyways, back to the topic at hand, if you have a 93 car that TB for sale on ebay probably won't work. I'm not sure what the difference is between 93 and 94up maybe someone else here knows.

Tony

PS I took a look at that auction, how do they think that a 58mm TB will just "bolt on" to the stk. intake manifold? It's funny they don't mention that you'll have to open up the twin openings in the intake to 58mm before you can use that TB, a bit deceiving IMO.

for the right price I'm sure they'll ship it anywhere........especially if you're paying for shipping. Why would they not honour a winning bid just because the person doesn't reside in the US and he/she wins the auction? If he/she wants it, I'm sure they'll ship it.

Most people won't just to avoid any kind of trouble. Shipping to Canada is a PITA since you have to claim it as a gift or the receiver also has to pay a duty fee, etc.
All people that have asked to purchase stuff from me that are outside the US (besides canada) always want to pay with a credit card that has a billing in the US and is being shipped to a outside US address to their "friend". You ask for a money order or any other form of payment and they are not interested.
Lots of fraud happens this way.

I see your point and yes you should protect yourself when entering into a transaction like that but as a seller usually you have control. If it were me, that part wouldn't leave my house until I actually have confirmed payment (either through paypal directly into my account or MO or cashier's cheque after it clears, NO CREDIT CARDS!!!!). Personally once I know I got payment (confirmed) I couldn't care less where the guy wants it shipped, it could be to Katmandu for all I care. If he gave me the address to ship that's where it's going, if something happens, not my problem.

As an example I recently sold something on ebay and the winning bidder lives in Japan, he paid directly into my account via paypal so the item's making the long voyage overseas. It'll take about 30 days or so and it's only been a week. I don't think he's concerned and neither am I. I got the money and that's what counts and he's got a tracking # so he'll look for progress online as the item makes its way to him.

The gift thing is no big deal, all you do there is just check off a box stating it's a gift and all's well, that's not a major hassle.

Anyways, getting back on topic. Even though that TB probably won't fit the poster's car, if he wants it maybe the best thing to do is to email the seller of the item first and see if he will ship if in fact he does end up winning the auction for the TB.

No worries with shipping. I have got a very good friend in New York, so if there is going to be some problem with shipping to Europe, the ebay seller can send it to my friend.

Yeah, an email is in order It does look like the linkage does have the TV cable portion still in tact. The intake will need to be ported on the TB end so it isn't a direct bolt on.

Yeah, PayPal is a different story though. Thats all confirmed. I'm talking real live credit cards. People are silly to the amount of credit card fraud that happens. I've seen thousands upon thousands stolen from a single person in one day. It's really sad how easy it is to get credit info on someone and use their card.

I agree with Ccam, make sure you port your intake manifold or your 58 mm TB will be useless...

My unconfirmed impression is that the '93 throttle body has a slightly different linkage than later years. I have read this on the internet but never seen any firm evidence. In my personal experience,TBs intended for later years will fit but you might have to adjust for slack in your throttle and TV cables. This may also be a consequence of the shorter plenum on the '93 intake. By the way, when I installed the Holley 52 mm TB on my '93 I had to make a number of adjustments to the linkage, even though Holley claimed it was designed specifically for my model year.
