Question Edelbrock LT1 / LT4 Intake

I have a question about using the Edelbrock intake for porting. I read somewhere on here that there may be an advantage to using the Edelbrock LT4 intake over the Edelbrock LT1 intake. Maybe something to do with the runners or how much material can be removed.? Can the Edelbrock LT4 intake be made to fit ported LT1 heads or will it only fit LT4 heads? Anyone have any experience porting these?

Thanks

Ummmm. They are both basically the same casting so what works for one will basically work for the other. No advantage to using the E-LT4 over the E-LT1, same casting.

Do you know this for a FACT? Just curious, I would assume they are.
The LT4 has a revised rocker cover rail due to the raised intake port opening, on the heads. The LT1 does not have this, so it's possible the there may be some interference here. The machine shop should be able to clearence this area.

Yep, if you do a search you'll find that they are the same casting, that doesn't mean that Edelbrock doesent "finish" the 2 pieces differently. The E-LTX intakes have been discussed alot here.

I'd say a good single plane conversion would be a better investment at any level of mods

Please explain? If you ordered new castings somewhere they you are already off on the wrong foot.

Sounds to me like you are paying too much attention to marketing and not enough to results.

I have not been able to find anything stating that they are they same casting. I may place a call to Edelbrock or maybe one of the forum porters will step in and confirm. If the LT1 and LT4 are the same casting with just a different finishing and someone wanted to have it ported anyway then it would not matter which they chose. Correct? So this would mean that someone could also purchase the LT1 manifold and have it ported and matched to LT4 heads and vice versa with no difference in performance.??

Thanks
