The ECT sensor for the gauge snapped in half, will this affect the engine?

From: LUBBOCK Tx and Dallas on occasions
The ECT sensor for the gauge snapped in half, will this affect the engine?

while doing the headers the ect sensor and connector snapped in half. anyway will running the cra with this not reading affect anythign but just not give me a temp reading?

also can i buy the sensor and connector with the wire coming out and just splice it in with the original wiring harness?

It will only affect the gauge.
From the list of replacement pigtails on my Tech Page:
Wiring pigtail for ECT in head for gauge
AC-Delco #PT728
GM p/n 12126458
or you might be able to find a wiring pigtail cheaper at a well stocked auto parts store.

so those part numbers are for the connector only wiht the wire coming out?

also is that ect only have one wire coming out of it? thats all i saw?

P/ns are for the connector with a wire pig tail for splicing it out. The AC-Delco and GM p/n are the same part. They are usually not cheap for what they are. Yes, there is only one wire on that sensor (green). The pig tail's wire will be white (generic).
