EBCM required for factory computer to operate?

Removing the ABS and all the HVAC stuff, so the dash is out of the car. Also cleaning up the under-dash wiring. Since I will be no longer using the ABS at all, can I just remove the EBCM or will it **** the computer off to the point that the engine won't run properly? Thanks.

I'm not positive about the OBD-I cars, but the OBD-II cars have the EBCM tied to the serial data line (to the ALDL) in parallel only for diagnostic purposes, and removing the EBCM has no effect on the PCM. That's how my car is, I just used the Firebird harness in my Cutlass and cut the wire from the EBCM and taped it, the PCM has no clue something is gone. FWIW
