Easy oil filter question

I have a ph5 on my lt1 and its not the filter the book says it needs. It says it needs a ph30. Could this be the reason my newly rebuilt motor has lower oil pressure than it should? I believe the ph5 is bigger.

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Easy oil filter question

The ph5 is just a larger capacity filter recommended for use on trucks with a 350. I doubt it will affect your oil pressure. Too low oil pressure on a newly rebuilt engine is probably due to using too thin of an oil for the clearances in that particular engine. You should stay away from those Fram oil filters though, they're very cheaply made and I've read about the paper end caps blowing out(resulting in no filtration). Go with something of a higher quality like a K&N filter. Its only a few more dollars and is a cheap peace of mind. I use the K&N Hp-2002 and it has a 1" nut on the bottom that makes filter removal easy.

You can also use the K&N 3002 filter, it's a larger filter. This is what I use.
