Smile easy LT header install

i was dreading putting them on after all the horror stories about them but i actualy got them on pretty easy. i was shocked after reading all the posts about them. i put them both in from the bottom. although i did have to jack the car way up for the passenger side. it only took about 45 minutes to do both and thats with jacking the car up and everything. maybe im just lucky or for sure to spin a bearing or something after this head n cam swap lol. i do have one problem though, the header bolts on the passenger side. what kind of bolts are most of you using. i have the 10 or 12 point bolts. whichever it is and i cant get a wrench on them. thanx in advance for any info

Damn...what brand do you have? Thats crazy fast for a LT install. Mine was a huge PITA! (jet-hots)

For the bolts on the passenger side, I had to grind down the box end on some wrecnes. I have 2 that I use, each one ground down on a different side. I just keep these wrenches around as my "header wrenches."

Re: easy LT header install

Did it take you 45 min to just install the headers, cause the most time consuming part was removing everything.
It took my only about an hour if that to get the headers in and about another 6 hrs removing and re-installing everything.
I used ARP header bolts and I had to grind down a little material off a 3/8" wrench so I could tighten up around the #2 & #8 primaries.

Did you use Felpro gaskets?

Re: easy LT header install

How much of a difference did you notice between the Edelbrocks and the Long Tubes? I have the edelbrock TES and am thinking about switching.

Re: easy LT header install

i dont know i dont have the car running yet but i really wouldnt be able to tell you anyway since i did heads and cam and all that stuff all at once. i did pick up with the edelbrocks though over stock. i went from a 14.0 to a 13.40 by adding the edelbrocks and a small b&m converter(holeshot 2400) and it was on street tires. one thing i can say is much better is the plug access. it was horrible with the edelbrocks.
