I have always done it with a TPIS happy hooker. I have done it probably a dozen time. Takes about 2-3hrs

I believe that if you work diligently, you can have an LT1 out the bottom in roughly 2 hours.

This one's posted quite often, I think you'll find the bottom is much easier. You can have the whole engine/trans as one unit w/headers etc if you do it from the bottom.

I too would like to find such a cart! I'll search the auto part stores around my small town, but I've never seen anything like one before. If anyone can share as to where they acquired it, I would greatly appreciate it.

Re: Easiest way to pull motor?

That bottom method looks pretty good. But i think i still prefer the top method. Me and one other person had the engine tottaly stripped down in about 2 hours and had it out in another couple hours. I dont think i would like to have that motor sitting there with all that junk connected to it still, i prefer to pull it out with all the extras off. Some look at the lt1 and think how in the hell can that thing fit out the top. But actually with the radiator and ac condenser out u have plenty of room.

Build your own cart, I took two panio dollys and bolted a couple of 2" by 6" boards on them and bingo, a cart.
Cost me $20 bones

I took mine out top, it wasn't that hard. When I put it back in I had trans, and everything but intake and headers on it. Went in pretty smooth too. I have to take it out again here pretty soon and Im going through top again.

Re: Easiest way to pull motor?

I always do the top.. got pretty good at it too. Like the above when i put it back in I had trans, intake and I already had the headers on. Had to unhook the steering to make it go with the headers on though but she'll fit.
