Isn't the AIR pump a little electrical gadget on the lower drivers side. Mine was. Are you talking about the AC?

Unless it has changed, my 94 had a small ,aprox. 4"x4" , little box. I went to take it off and it fell apart. It should be located on the lower driver side. If I remember right it mounted using holes in the block. I deleted mine about 4 years ago to clean up some clutter.

Unbolt it from the engine (and unplug the electrical connector), then bolt the new one on and plug it in.

It's pretty straightforward. Three small bolts, the electrical connection, and the tubes pop right off.

I thought GM had a recall on the '96 air pumps....the dealer should replace it free. I got my recall notice in the mail a while back(yr or 2), but choose not to] since I just rebuilt mine.

Correct. If the car has not had the recall done on it, GM will fix it for free. I was the third owner of my formula and the light came on the very evening I got the car back into town. I bought it ten hours away. Took it tot he local dealership and they replaced it no questions asked.

Yeah....or just call them and give them your VIN so that they can look it up to see if it has been done under warranty already.
