Easiest way to drop oil pan ??'s

Whats the best way to drop the oil pan on the lt1 cars? Will it come out without removing the k member? I need to check out the old oil pump, and any help would be appreciated.

The most you can do with the engine in the car is change the oil pan gasket. I did that when i ripped it during my cam in stall. If you can get your hands on an engine hoist, just pull the engine mount bolts and pull it up as far as you can. That may give you enough room, but i never personally did it.

i don't think there is any easy way to get the pan off lol. You have to lift the motor and that still may not be enough clearance. If it was me, i would just support the motor and take out the k member and shock tower bolts and drop the k member down some.

take off y pipe, dust cover around the cat if it is an auto, unhook motor mounts and jack the motor up... will be a tight fit but it will come out with some muscle

On automatic cars you can lift the motor and remove the pan. On manual trans cars you can loosen the K member bolts to lower it then jack the motor up and the pan will come out.

That's the way I did mine.
