Eagle .010 under on the mains crank
Eagle .010 under on the mains crank
I really really want to get this crank, just based on the fact that it is 4340 3.75" eagle lightweight for $425, but I dont like the fact that it has been ground .010 on the mains to correct a problem.
Is this a big deal or not? You can get bearings that are .010 under to go along with it correct? So it really shouldnt matter as long as Eagle fixed the problem. Does anyone have some worthwhile advice on this issue, or real life experience?

Thats common on eagle cranks, good forging process, bad machining. Ive seen new eagle cranks out of the box with flat spots (visable to the eye) on the journals. So they just re machine them, and discount em. Should be nothing wrong durability wise with it. Personally id get a scat 9000 series crank for 180-200 off ebay and run that, put the extra money into rods. Just my .02, Prorac1
Well the motor is getting all 4340 no matter what, but it would sure be nice to save some dough on the crank, especially for a lightweight one. It will be getting Hbeams and already have JE pistons for it, so Im not going cheap on the rest. With that in mind, is there anything wrong with getting this crank? It will be sprayed with 200-300 with custom nutek cam and LE heads.
Looking into Scat cranks. Ive been hearing some not so great stuff about Eagle lately, is Scat a superior crank manufacturer. I want all forged, but Im also trying to budget. Would a Scat 4130 crank be a better purchase than even an Eagle 4340. The HP rating is 800 for SBC on the scat 4130, and I wont be over that....what you think? The Scat 4130 is $359, 4340 is $539....eagle 4340 is $550
