I dont have the manual with me and can't remember all the steps off hand to try to explain it correctly, I would pick one up it's spelled out in there very well. Rob (Shoebox) has a very similar guide on his site that's very good:

http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#adjust_valves

Scroll down to "adjusting valves and zero lash", the one I went with was method #1 below that section. It was basically the same method described in the manual.

thanks for the info, I will use master shoebox's guide when I pull the covers sometime this week. I hope I find something wrong so I can unleash all those lost ponies.

checked the timing on the cam this afternoon, intake centerline is 105.5 degrees, add the 4, almost 110 degrees versus the stated 112 degree centerline. I'm guessing that's installed correctly.

What next? I adjusted the valvetrain w/ the motor cold after I finished w/ the degree kit, ran the jamb nut down by finger till tight/no movement from pushrod, then cranked it down 1/2 a turn and locked down the poly lock. put in new autolite 106 plugs, and fired it up. ran as normal as always. just doesn't seem to have the power it should, or i've gotten used to it. i mean from a roll it will break the tires loose well into second gear, but it just feels numb up until 100mph..

anyway, truck is up for sale if anyone is interested, looks like I'm going to be a daddy. but any other help would be more than welcome, anyone in the north carolina triad area w/ lt4 experience would be greatly appreciated.

Are you guys sure that the dynoh is Okay?? I always thought that HP and TQ curves had to cross each other at 5250RMP...and on this graph the crossover point is set at 4250 RPM's I am a mistaken or what???

I'm not too sure of that either, think the crossover mainly has to deal w/ the cam setup?

anyone know what the max timing should be at wot for my application? right now I'm running around 36 degrees w/ no knock. As soon as it dries up around here I'm going to try and mess around w/ the tune more.

Nope, its due to the mathematical formula used to get HP from TQ, they will ALWAYS cross at 5252 rpm.

HP = tq x RPM / 5252

Could simply be a graphing error and/or the dyno numbers are wrong. Do you have another dyno available you can go to? Would certainly help you sell the truck if you could advertise a good HP # and show it was running right.

He could also pop a wheel on the crank and turn it over with a dial indicator on # 1 with a piston stop and verufy the timing of the cam without popping the timing cover

just about all of these crossover at 5252, but then there are some that don't.

Should I go have a word w/ the dyno operator? I didn't get a chance to see his "wall of shame" where all the other dyno runs were posted, reckon I look to see if they are off too.

I would like to go to another dyno, but if I'm in the process of selling it, I really don't want to put much more into it.

The curves do cross at 5250. They just don't look like it because the hp and tq curves are drawn on different vertical scales.
