Dyno'd my car over the weekend

This past weekend was the Steel Valley Nationals and i decided to dyno my car. I didn't think i was going to be able to because of my ground effects and lowering springs but they found a way.

Anyways, i was kind of disappointed in the results.
I did 3 runs, i didnt know till the 3rd run but i had the air on durring the 1st 2 runs.

The best i got was 263.5 hp @ 5250 rpm with 284 tq @ 4250 rpm They had me go through the gears slowly and then hammer it in 4th which is a 1-1 ratio. i took it to 120 mph-117-115 on the 3 runs ending right at 5500 rpm.

my car is a 6 speed and i told them my car has 3.42 gears in it. I was at 1000 rpm on my speedo and they had 800 rpm.
For all i know the gears could be differant, would it make a differance?

are the numbers any good?

Not horrible numbers, but lower than I'd expect for your mods. For a referance point, my 95 Fomula M6 with FIPK and Hooker catback did 258RWHP/289TQ. With long tubes and no cats, I would have expected you to be up around 280 or more RWHP.

Two things I see that I'd wonder/worry about:
1) you list desceeened Tbyrne MAF ends, are these the larger diameter than stock? If so they may be throwing your ECM off.
2) You list an OBDI conversion, did this include programming and who was it from? Did you get this before or after the other mods. You may need to get retuned if you did the other mods after (especially the MAF ends).

Finally, did they use a wide band O2 to get your A/F ratio? If so what was it? If not, you need to get redynoed somewhere with A/F so you can see if it's running rich/lean. That could be costing you some serious power.

Well, your car is supposedly rated at 310 at the crank and with 15% DT loss you come up with the numbers you got.

I thought, perhaps that the LTs would have given you a few more ponies, but the gains there might have been off set by your MAF or tuning.

As far as the tach. reading, the tachs usually read a couple hundred high. JMHO

I've never dynoed...but i figured our cars usually dyno at around 245 rwhp or so for the M6....and i've seen dyno numbers where the SLP intake and SLP LM combo added 26 rwhp....so i would hope that I'm around 270 but after seein your numbers i'm having seconds thoughts because im running stock manifolds...o well silly me

I dynoed mine last week and my numbers were somewhat disappointing to me as well. I got 255 rwhp and 291 tq. I don't think they did it right though. Aren't you suppose to have some sort of fan in front of the car to simulate air flow. Well they didn't I was highly pissed cause my car temp was almost past the red. They did 3 runs... mods in sig.

also have 169k on the odometer.....

I drive a 93 Formula A4 with 90k miles on it. Only mods I have are Borla Catback (open), and Moroso CAI. Dyno'ed the car about 2 weeks ago and made 279HP, and 310TQ.

Mine has 94k miles. '93s seem to be pretty strong.

I would definitely look into your tuning.

I had all of my mods done before i ordered my OBD1 kit from madz28.com. Even after the computer i did't notice much of a differance if any at all, it just made the car sound a little different. mostly got rid of some false knock i was getting. I was thinking i would be closer to 300 at the rear wheels.

would my gears make any difference? and i always get a code saying my MAF is malfunctioning. i dont know how to fix it. and now that i have the obd1 the scanner wont tell me whats wrong.

300 rwhp for your setup might be a little high. You could expect 290 rwhp though, and about 320 rwtq.

3.42 gears...4th being your 1-1???? Can anyone back me up one this? I have 4.56 in it now but last time I checked 1-1 for 3.42 gears was 3rd gear....not 4th.

I think he meant in 4th with the converter locked meaning the engine and coverter were turning at the same speed. However, when you "hammer" it in top gear the call will downshift and unlock unless you have a TC lock up switch...and yes in an A4 4th is an overdrive...

His car is a M6 though, and 4th gear is 1:1 if I recall correctly.
