Unhappy Dyno results

mods: 355 forged, 236/242 cam at a 568/579 lift, full bolt ons, 3200 stall, no cats, long tubed headers, cutout, stock intake, tb and heads.

1st run untuned with SES light (code 43)

304.8hp 304.8 trq

After a little bit of tuning

316.2hp 312.8 trq

ran out of time at shop.

I just replaced the knock sensor and im going back this sat to have the a/f tune also and more tuning. Another thing i need to replace my oil pump driveshaft assembly. It busted and only getting 20psi at WOT but reg pressure at normal speeds.

Does this sound pretty low?

I mean ive had 3 people say that replacing the knock sensor will pick up a good 15 hp and after getting the a/f done should get maybe 5-10 hp?

I know the heads/intake/tb are holding back alot, but i was hoping for 330hp and at least 340trq.

Wonder why my trq is lower than hp?

Re: Dyno results

For a cammed all bolt on engine that sounds a bit low. My engine dynoed higher with the cut-out closed. The 355 makes it even sound worse.

Maybe a/f ratio, do you have the chart?

Re: Dyno results

i'd have done it right the first time.....saved up for heads, but thats just me.

my stock bottom end and stock heads, intake, TB makes 328rwhp, 343rwtq. sounds like you've got some bugs to fix bro, good luck.

Re: Dyno results

Dang, that's a big cam for your heads. Hope you get the new heads soon. Goes to show that you hit a threshold with a cam at a certain point, and it's just too big for stock heads. Hope you hit some awesome #'s with the new setup with the heads though.

How does the car feel otherwise?

Re: Dyno results

feels like a racecar specially with a cutout and no cats.

I should be at least 330/340 right?

I mean if people are making that much with a smaller cam. I know i should be able to get to that point also. Even though i have more room to play with after heads.

Glad to hear it.

With that big of a stall and stock heads, it's hard to hit those #'s (330/340). A M6 should, but an A4 with your stall, maybe.

Re: Dyno results

For a cam that size I wouldnt expect to see it peak under 6500 rpm. Maybe you have valve float. Plus you have an auto.. they will always dyno less. Have to remember to lock the converter and youll see more power to the wheels.

Re: Dyno results

Re: Dyno results

Well you are obviously comparing your numbers with what youd see from a 6 spd car and you just cant do that. So you want to know where your power is and im telling you its wrapped up in that tranny.

Re: Dyno results

well he did say that if i locked the converter i can get 25hp from it.

But does the graph look right or does it look bad?

I still have to go back and get a/f tune along with me replacing that knock sensor which was pulling timing out of the engine.
