dyno...embarrasing

but hopefully it will lead me in the right directio of getting my car fixed. my friend let me borrow his fuel pressure gauge and once my car cools down i am going to check it idle, and give it gas and see if drops, etc.

by looking at this graph what do u guys think is the problem? once up to temp my car misses/stumbles. once i get into 3rd gear is when it is most noticeable. at idle once up to temp it will get a lil shaky at times.
here u go, taken with phone camera. so we will see how well they are. cant get it to a scanner at the moment.

check your plugs man. doesnt matter if they are 50 miles or 50,000 miles old. from what i have seen, these damn cars love to munch on plugs.

Re: dyno...embarrasing

did u see the A/F? hovering just above 15.0. i was thinking fuel pump? it is dark out now, im just going to wait until tomorrow now to check fuel pressure.
last monday i pulled all the plugs and besides the 2 i replaced they all looked similar to this one.
when i was at the dyno another guy that had an LT1 said that is was his looked like when his opti was going out. and he also said the same thing, that it only did it after 15 minutes of driving.
but just to make sure, i already went and bought plugs to replace the bad ones. which i did the 2. i will put the other 6 in tomorrow morning before i take it out to check fuel pressure.
thanks for the replies thus far.

Re: dyno...embarrasing

where was the wideband mounted when you did your testing? was it just stuffed in the tail pipe? if so, do you still have a cat? as i understand it a cat will change your reported afr if your wideband is downstream of the cat.

i agree, now that i zoomed in on your graphs that it was a bit lean to say the least.

have you checked out your fuel pressure yet?

Re: dyno...embarrasing

the wideband was stuffed about a foot in, adn i dont have any cats.
longtubes into offroad y-pipe into a 18 inch bullet muffler.
like i said tomorrow morning i am going to check the fuel pressure.

could anyone tell me what the symptoms of a failing fuel pump are?
the fuel filter is about 3k miles old, keep in mind that i just drove the car 1800 miles from north dakota to florida.

Re: dyno...embarrasing

usually a failing fuel pump will make the car very hard to start if it has been off for any length of time (overnight esp).

to me it seems like there is something up with the wb. at one point the line on one of those graphs goes to like 18:1. the car shouldnt even have been running at that point.

Re: dyno...embarrasing

he let off early on that run, due to it breaking up.
other peoples A/F were close or in spec persay. so i dont think it was the W/B being off.
hopefully i will get some good info tomorrow with the FP gauge.
