Ok, I just bought these longtube Dynatech headers off of someone on this board(Teal94Z), they said they didn't have any problems with clearing the oil filter and oil cooler. But I'm having that problem.

I did a search and found it to be true on some longtubes, so I was wondering if anyone can share some helpful information on these Dynatech Longtubes. I wanna know if there's a difference in 93 and 94 LT1s as far as the oil cooler setup because Teal94Z told me he didn't even have to remove the oil filter to install the headers from below. Now I have the header in place and bolted in on the drivers side, but 1 of the pipes is about 1" over the oil filter should be SO I now can't get the oil filter back on.

Now, I need a solution and some alternatives because if I don't have to unbolt the header, then I don't want to because it's a pain with these header bolts. I've heard of eliminating the oil cooler, but I'm not sure if that's gonna give me the 1" I need. I'm sure it will give me more room to move the oil filter up about 2", but that doesn't sound much like a solution since I need to have some left to right movement, not up and down.....got me?

N-E help would be greatly appreciated, I'd like to get as much down as I can while I got today off. Thanks.

Go to the store and get this "shorty" oil filter....it is SHORT but will work with the factory cooler....it did on my 94.

Nope, didn't work.... still won't fit. Damn I don't like these headers, they designed them after the factory LT1 without the oil cooler!!!! Any ideas? Where Can I get a relocater for the oil filter?

 

Remove the Oil Cooler and even with the long filter it should be up above the headers (the cooler takes up about 6" to 8").

With my Grotyhann LTs everything would fit in OK but the filter was right up against the headers so I removed the cooler.

 

Just remove the oil cooler assembly and run synthetic motor oil.

 

I don't want to remove the oil cooler, it's there for a reason. Plus I have the driver side header bolted up already and it looks like I'll have to unbolt it to get the room to remove the oil cooler....

I was thinking of getting a single remote oil filter kit from jegs for $34 and mount it where my AIR pump use to be. Until I get a blower, then I'll have to find a new place.
