Are you certain that you didn't leave a gasket from the old filter on? Probably not, but I remember doing that once. The new filter wouldn't seal with the old gasket on it. Just a thought.

Could be a bad filter. Just take it back and replace it. I've used 20 or 30 of those 454s and they're great. I use the 1218 (the longer one, i think thats the #) now.

Even a little chunk of the old filter on there will cause a major leak.

I'm guessing it is an old gasket still being on.

I've never had any problems with Delco filters and there isn't really another way for the filter to be leaking unless it had a hole in it.

On my 97 the oil pressure sending unit is right at the back of the intake manifold, Im guessing its the same on 94's but there is a pipe plug right above the oil filter adapter ( for a manual oil pressure gauge) but how could that plug could have backed out all of a sudden???

CHECK THE FACTORY OIL cooler. its inbetween the oil filter and the block. bolts may be loose. mine 94 formula leaked back there after an oil change. then i tightened the oil cooler and the leak was gone.

Did you check the part # on the filter or the box? My buddy had the wrong filter in the right box on a Fram, leaked like crazy.

1993s and early 1994s have the oil pressure sensor above the oil filter.
