duals with chambered mufflers...anyone?

I plan on running 2.5" duals all the way out the back off of my TPiS long tubes. I know of a few people who have ran 3" duals with 3" chambered mufflers, but what about 2.5" chambered mufflers?

It can be done with some work. My friend used to own a 98 Camaro Z28. He had an H pipe off stock manifolds into two Flowmasters. They had to hit his car with a hammer to get them to fit. Personally, I don't think it's worth it. I am not gonna let anyone smash away at my car to make mufflers fit.

I went with a x pipe and Bullets and it sounds insane.

You can do it with the Flowmaster race mufflers but the car will be
loud and have a lot of interior resonance. It does sound good though!

They can be done with Flowmaster 40's if you do it the way I mentioned. I wish I had pics of my friend's old Z28. I personally didn't like it. Looked a little too cramped and the fact that they barbarically smashed the car to make them fit. But it's just that important to some people.

that would be why i want to go with chambered mufflers. they retain the form of the rest of the exhaust so no "bashing" would be necessary.

I dumped the tailpipes right before the rear axle. They aren't actually 100% turndowns. I have them facing out so exhaust gases wouldn't be right underneath the car. You can see some decent pics in my cardomain site in the sig.

No. I had already replaced the Flowmaster 10 series mufflers with an
Ultraflow for the dyno. If I still had the Flowmasters on it would have
been way loud. Of course, I'm an old man by comparison so my tolerance
for noise is probably a lot less than most.

Here is a video with the flowmaster 10 series mufflers. Remember this is
a crappy digital camera video and a stock cam. Turn the volume way up
and you will see what I mean. I also have catalytics on the car so the
sound will be much louder without them.

Flowmaster 10 Series

Don't mean to bust in on your thread but What about the single chamber Flowmaster? Is this what the consider the race muffler? I seen them in one of the Year One books. It just says there very loud and recommended for off road use. I'm running 3" Flowmaster catback with single in, single out muffler, but I want a muffler thats louder than what I have now. Thinking of trying this single chamber Flowmaster. Plan on sticking with the single cat single muffler system for a while.
