Dual cutouts vs. a single

I've got a question about the placement of cutouts. I was curious wether or not its worth it to get two cutouts welded before the two banks join on the y-pipe instead of getting one after the banks converge. Some say a cutout after the Y or before the axle sounds like crap, raspy and unrefined. Would a dual setup before the joining banks give a cleaner, more quality sound? I know it would be much louder being closer to the headers, but without volume in mind how would the quality be with this true dual setup? Any opinions from people with a cutout setup would be appreciated

I had the single on my 94 Z under the rear passenger seat and got tons of compliments on the sound.

same setup as above two. it sounded great when i had stock manifolds, and it sounds great now that I have LTs with a catted Y. I get tons of compliments on it. my only wish is that was just a little louder.

Re: Dual cutouts vs. a single

i lost a decent amount of low end torque when i moved mine into the y-pipe

i dont have the numbers now, but when i had it at the axle i gained from 3k and up. but didnt loose anything under 3k

basicly what im getting at is i gained the same amount of hp just lost low end with them in the y pipe

It will sound good either way. I have mine right before the axle dump and I couldn't be happier with the sound of it.

Dual cutouts on the Y-pipe actually sounds like 100% pure anus. That sound only belongs at the destruction derby on 20 year old station wagons.
