Dtc 77

Well, I installed a fan switch using the numerous guides, mostly shoeboxs, but I keep getting a code 77 a little while after i clear the computer of codes. It doesn't trip the ses, but I can see its there on my scanmaster. Did I install something wrong, I'm pretty certin my install is good. Thanks.

Does it happen whether the fans are on or not? Are you sure your fan switch is sending a ground to the wires and not voltage (a common mistake). Does the fan switch work ok?

It is correct that DTC 77 will not light the SES.

The fan switch works great, I have the leds, they turn on, and I can hear the fans turn on at both high and low speeds. It seems that after I clear the computer via the PCM fuse, the code stays off but the next time I restart the car, and I go through my scanmaster, I see the code. Low speed fans come on with A/C and it doesn't run hot enough to trigger the high speed fans but it works ok on the switch. I'm sure that blue and green wires that go to the dpdt swich are triggered to ground, I seem to remember the only place that 12Vs connect to are my leds.

Hmm...it does sound like things are working right. OBD-I does not usually complain about the fan switch. You might need to wire in the 47 ohm resistors that are in the OBD-II diagram (assuming you do not have a faulty connection or something touching where it is not supposed to).

I'll give that a try and see what happens, there are no resistors in it currently because the leds I bought have built in resistors so I didn't bother with any of that, thanks for the help though.
