DTC 42 after LE2 Head and Cam swap

Im getting code 42 after a head and cam swap. Car starts and runs fine. Could I have missed a ground wire? I also have the delteq ignition. I will check the wires tomorrow. I have missplaced my camaro manual. Should I take out the pcm and make sure all the connections are tight? Has anyone had to replace the opti for this?

Thanks

Ok I know DTC 42 is the ignition control signal from the PCM to ICM that fires the ignition. I pulled out the pcm and pulled the black labled wires out. I checked all of my connections on the delteq. Could it be the pcm itself is bad. I swapped mine for one from pcm4less. Any help would be appreciated.

You must have found a history code not an active code since a 42 would have shut off the injectors.

A 42 indicates the IC signal (white wire from the black PCM connector pin 5) to the ICM. In this case the Delteq ICM, is at or near ground potential.

So either the wire has an intermittent short to ground. Or the Delteq ICM is questionable.

Simply reset the code and watch for either the engine to shut down or code to return. Then you know what to check.

Ok I reset the code and it comes back about 10 seconds after I start the engine up. So does that mean the delteq icm is questionable?

I wouldn't think so. According to the book, a 42 shuts off the injectors. So if the engine continues to run, the only reason I can think of is the white wire must be touching ground intermittently.

Disconnect one end of the white wire and ohm it to ground. With the meter attached, wiggle the wire from one end to the other and see if it ever reads at or near 0.
