Dropping engine from below?

I would like to purchase some tools so that I can drop the engine out of my car from below.

I do not want to buy an all out shop lift though. I was thinking more along the lines of one of those really large hydrolic jacks. How large do they make those. Or I had one other idea to fasten a cherry picker to the body somehow and raise the body instead of the engine. What are good thoughts also what are good lift tools as far as lifts are concerned?

Re: Dropping engine from below?

all i used to take mine out the bottom was 3 jacks 2 jack stands and a ton of cinder blocks (from home depot)

just disconect everything up top then raise the car disconect everything undert the car. Set it back down take out the bolts that hold the k member on and then slowly jack the car up off of the motor.

If u do a search you can find a few step by steps for doing it.
